DOMINATING DEFENSE

MURRAY, ZATKOFF CAPTURE HAP HOLMES AWARD

April 19, 2015 The American Hockey League announced today that Matt Murray and Jeff Zatkoff of the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins are the recipients of the Harry “Hap” Holmes Memorial Award for the 2014-15 season. Since 1972, the award has been presented to the goaltender(s) with at least 25 games played on the team which allows the fewest goals in the regular season. PENGUINS DEFEAT PHANTOMS, 5-1, TO FINISH REGULAR SEASON

PENGUINS SIGN PARENT TO PTO

WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins today announced that they have signed defenseman Ryan Parent to a professional tryout agreement (PTO).   Parent, 28, played in 22 games this season for the St. John’s IceCaps, notching two assists and 16 penalty minutes.  Prior to signing a PTO with St. John’s on Dec. 28, 2014, the native of Prince Albert, Saskatoon appeared in six contests with the Ontario Reign on the ECHL, where picked up one assist.   … read more

MURRAY NAMED WINNER OF BAZ BASTIEN AWARD

  WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, in conjunction with American Hockey League, announced today that goaltender Matt Murray has been voted the winner of the Aldege “Baz” Bastien Memorial Award as the AHL’s outstanding goaltender for the 2014-15 season. ESCOBEDO SIGNS PTO WITH PENGUINS
